For the practical component of the assessment, there are practical tasks on the day of course and after the course you are required to undertake a spray activity and provide your spray diary and documentation from your supervisor/employer confirming your competency Five Level 2 NZQA credits are available for this course.

This course is for existing Growsafe Certificate holders wishing to renew their current certificate. You must have a current certificate, or it must not be expired by more than 12 months. Eight Level 3 NZQA credits are available for this course.

GROWSAFE® Basic
The Basic certificate is intended for those working under supervision. It is an entry level certificate suitable for those new to agrichemical use or those doing pre-employment training. The focus is on practical competence. All staff who use agrichemicals should undertake training at this level to ensure their health and safety. Applicators with a Growsafe Basic certificate should be operating under the supervision of someone with a Growsafe Standard (or higher) certificate.
GROWSAFE® Standard
This course is for agrichemical users working independently (ie with little or no supervision) with responsibility for a single site/property, and may have responsibility for managing or supervising others. You are likely to be operating in a known set of circumstances (for example, one location, crop and/or equipment type), or operating under the supervision of someone with Growsafe Advanced or RCA certification.
GROWSAFE® Course Renewal
A Growsafe Standard certificate is valid for 5 years, at which time it can be renewed with this renewal course. This is because laws, technology and best practice are constantly changing. While you can read and hear about these changes yourself, your customers and the regulators require evidence that you are up-to-date. Renewal of your certificate should be done within 6 months of expiry.
GROWSAFE® Certified Handler
If you require a Growsafe® Certified Handler certificate, all the theory is included in the GROWSAFE® Standard course. Certified Handler status is only required if you intend to use products with a 6.1A or B hazard classification.
A practical component is additional and must be approved by a Certified Assessor:
Under the new WORKSAFE and EPA regulation, you are now required to provide evidence of how you handle Agrichemicals.
